Fonseca and Rubén Blades Unveil Visually Stunning AI-Powered Music Video for “Nunca Me Fui”

Colombian music icon Fonseca and Panamanian legend Rubén Blades have officially released the powerful music video for their collaborative single, “Nunca Me Fui,” on October 3, 2025. This highly anticipated release marks a significant moment in Latin music, combining the artistic prowess of two celebrated figures with groundbreaking visual technology. The song itself, already a Latin Grammy nominee for Best Tropical Song, is an anthem dedicated to homeland, memory, and the enduring spirit of migration.

A Visual Tapestry of Migration and Identity

The music video for “Nunca Me Fui” is a masterful blend of artistry and innovation, directed by Leonardo González Quevedo and produced by Nueve Voltios. It employs cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital animation, urban stencil art, and mixed techniques to create a visually captivating narrative. Each frame, meticulously crafted at five frames per second, depicts animated drawings of Fonseca and Blades seamlessly integrated into the urban landscapes and walls of New York City. This visual choice deliberately highlights New York’s status as a global crossroads for migrant communities, underscoring the universal themes of belonging, resilience, and cultural convergence. The production team, including AI production and direction by María José Marulanda and animation and post-production direction by Rubén Antorveza, has transformed the video into a profound homage to migration as an act of hope.

A Collaboration Rooted in Shared Experience

“Nunca Me Fui,” released earlier in May 2025, serves as the third preview from Fonseca’s upcoming album, which also features collaborations with Rawayana and Manuel Medrano. The song was born from a heartfelt desire to honor those who may live far from their native lands but whose hearts and memories remain deeply connected. Fonseca has expressed that having Rubén Blades, a longtime idol and a voice for migrant communities, on the track was a dream come true, adding immense depth and meaning to the project. Blades’ participation lends his characteristic storytelling power and universal message, reinforcing the idea that one’s roots are never truly left behind. This powerful Latin music single celebrates identity, memory, and the profound human experience of navigating new beginnings while cherishing one’s origins.

Recognition and Ongoing Impact

The collaboration has already garnered significant critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Tropical Song at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards. Critics and fans alike have recognized “Nunca Me Fui” as one of the year’s most significant and emotionally resonant collaborations. The release of this innovative music video is set to amplify the song’s message, further solidifying its status as an anthem for millions across generations and geographies. As Fonseca continues his “Tropicalia Tour,” this powerful visual release underscores the enduring power of music to connect people across distances and celebrate shared human experiences. The song’s fusion of nostalgic yet hopeful Latin American sounds, combined with its profound lyrical content and visually striking presentation, makes it a standout release in the current music landscape.
