Vitruvian Salsa Festival Concludes 2025 Season with Houston’s Yamilka G y su Orquesta

Addison, Texas – The much-anticipated Vitruvian Salsa Festival is set to wrap up its 2025 season with a vibrant performance by the renowned Houston-based ensemble, Yamilka G y su Orquesta. This beloved North Texas event, now celebrating its 11th year, continues its tradition of fostering cultural celebration and community engagement through captivating monthly dance parties held at Vitruvian Park.

A Celebration of Latin Culture and Community

The Vitruvian Salsa Festival, a staple in the North Texas latin music scene, has been bringing rhythm and energy to Addison’s scenic Vitruvian Park every second Saturday from June through September. The festival is designed to be inclusive, welcoming dancers of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals, to the dance floor. Each event, which runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, features professional salsa lessons from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, ensuring attendees can brush up on their moves or learn new ones. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Latin DJ Ruben Reyes provides a continuous stream of music throughout the evening, complemented by a variety of food trucks and vendors offering diverse culinary delights.

Yamilka G y su Orquesta: A Musical Powerhouse

Headlining the final event of the 2025 season on September 13th is Yamilka G y su Orquesta. Founded by Yamilka Gutierrez, this Houston-based orchestra is celebrated for its mastery across a wide spectrum of Latin music genres. Their repertoire includes energetic salsa, infectious merengue, passionate bachata, traditional cumbia, and smooth ballads, captivating audiences wherever they perform. The band’s extensive reach includes performances not only across Texas but also in Miami and New York, as well as in Yamilka’s native Dominican Republic, underscoring their national and international appeal. Their presence at the Vitruvian Salsa Festival promises an unforgettable night of authentic Latin music and dance.

Festival Lineup and Logistics

The 2025 season of the Vitruvian Salsa Festival kicked off on June 14th with Havana NRG, followed by Latin Swing on July 12th, and Zone D’Mambo on August 9th. Each event highlights different facets of the rich Latin music landscape, providing a consistent source of entertainment and cultural immersion for the community. Vitruvian Park, known for its beautiful green spaces and amphitheater, provides an ideal setting for these outdoor gatherings. While admission to the festival is free and open to the public, parking is available for a $15 cash-only fee at designated lots within Vitruvian Park and the Alfred J. Loos Sports Complex. Attendees are advised to follow event signage for clear directions to parking areas. In the event of inclement weather, the festival may be subject to cancellation, with parking fees being non-refundable. It is recommended to check the Vitruvian Park website or social media for the latest updates.

Impact and Tradition

Now in its 11th year, the Vitruvian Salsa Festival has solidified its position as a premier latin music event in North Texas. Jessica Vetrano, Special Events and Project Manager for the park operators, noted that the festival has become a highly anticipated annual gathering, often drawing between 5,000 to 8,000 attendees per night, with some traveling from out of state. The event not only serves as a platform for showcasing talented musicians and dance instructors but also as a vital space for community building and cultural appreciation. The festival’s commitment to providing family-friendly, safe, and welcoming environments ensures its continued success and its significance to the local Latin community and beyond.
