Kapo Shines with Four Premios Juventud 2025 Nominations as Awards Make Historic Move to Panama

Santiago VargasSantiago VargasAugust 20, 2025 2273 Minutes read0

Kapo, a burgeoning force in the Latin music landscape, has solidified his position as a rising star with an impressive four nominations at the 22nd Annual Premios Juventud 2025. This significant recognition arrives as the prestigious awards ceremony itself makes a landmark move, hosting its event outside the United States for the first time, taking place live from Panama City on September 25. The nominations underscore Kapo’s versatile artistry and growing influence within the competitive industry, marking a pivotal moment in his burgeoning career and for the awards show.

Kapo’s Diverse Recognition Across Genres

Kapo’s four nominations span a variety of genres, showcasing his adeptness at blending sounds and collaborating with established names in the music world. He is recognized in the highly competitive ‘New Generation – Male Artist’ category, a testament to his emergence as a fresh voice.

His collaboration with Danny Ocean on “Imagínate” earned a nod in the ‘Tropical Hit’ category, highlighting his ability to infuse tropical rhythms with contemporary flair. Furthermore, the vibrant track “Ohnana,” featuring an all-star lineup including Maluma, Ryan Castro, Farruko, and Nicky Jam, secured a nomination for ‘Tropical Mix’. Demonstrating his pioneering spirit in the burgeoning Afrobeat genre, Kapo’s song “Uwaie” is nominated for ‘Afrobeat Latino of the Year’, a newly introduced category for 2025.

These nominations collectively spotlight Kapo’s unique blend of tropical, reggaetón, and Afrobeat sounds, which have resonated deeply with fans and critics alike.

The Ascendance of a Latin Music Sensation

Born Juan David Loaiza Sepúlveda, Kapo has quickly become a notable figure in the Latin music industry. His journey gained significant momentum in 2019 when he was discovered by La Industria Inc., a key production company known for nurturing major talents. This collaboration allowed him to connect with other prominent artists and release a steady stream of music.

Kapo’s breakthrough on the international stage truly materialized in 2024 with the release of his Afrobeat-infused tracks. Both “Ohnana” and “Uwaie” not only garnered widespread attention but also charted on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs and Global 200, with “Uwaie” notably achieving viral status on TikTok. His ascent has been further supported by Amazon Music’s Artist Development Program, signaling his recognition as an artist with significant potential. These nominations at Premios Juventud 2025 serve as a powerful affirmation of his dedication, innovative spirit, and the impact of his collaborations.

Premios Juventud Makes History in Panama

The 22nd edition of Premios Juventud is set to be a historic event, as it departs from its traditional U.S. venue for the first time. The ceremony will emanate live from the Figali Convention Center in Fort Amador, Panama City, on September 25, 2025. This strategic decision by TelevisaUnivision reflects a deeper commitment to honoring the cultural richness, values, and traditions of Latin American communities, coinciding purposefully with Hispanic Heritage Month.

The awards show, themed “Evolucionando al ritmo de la música” (Evolving to the Rhythm of Music), introduces eight new categories this year to better reflect the diverse interests of today’s youth, including the ‘Afrobeat Latino of the Year’ category where Kapo is nominated. Clarissa Molina is confirmed as the first host for the evening, with additional hosts to be announced.

A Diverse Field of Nominees and Industry Impact

Kapo joins an impressive roster of nominees for the 2025 awards. Bad Bunny and Danny Ocean lead the field with six nominations each, while artists like Anitta, Beéle, Carín León, Emilia, Myke Towers, Netón Vega, and Peso Pluma each received five nods. The inclusion of a Panamanian artist, Boza, with two nominations, further emphasizes the significance of the event’s new location. The winners of Premios Juventud are determined entirely by popular vote, with fans casting their ballots on the official premiosjuventud.com website until September 1.

The Premios Juventud awards, broadcasting live on Univision, UniMás, Galavisión, and streaming on ViX, continue to be a vital platform for recognizing and celebrating the dynamic talent within the Latin music and entertainment industry. Kapo’s strong showing among this year’s nominees is a clear indicator of his escalating prominence and underscores his potential to become a defining voice for the next generation of Latin music stars. His gratitude, expressed for the nominations and the collaborative spirit of his peers, resonates with the event’s celebration of youthful talent and cultural pride.
