Latin Recording Academy Honors Trailblazers with Special Awards for 2025

Elena MorenoElena MorenoAugust 7, 2025 1912 Minutes read0

The Latin Recording Academy has officially announced the distinguished recipients of its 2025 Special Awards, recognizing a cadre of influential figures who have significantly shaped the landscape of Latin music. This year’s honorees include legendary artists receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, alongside a pivotal figure in the industry being celebrated with the Trustees Award and the introduction of a brand new accolade for music education.

Esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients

Five iconic artists have been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to their profound contributions and enduring impact on Latin music. The celebrated recipients are: Susana Baca, the renowned Peruvian singer and folklorist celebrated for her work in Afro-Peruvian music; Enrique Bunbury, the influential Spanish rock singer-songwriter, a key figure in the Spanish rock scene; Ivan Lins, the Grammy-winning Brazilian composer and pianist; Pandora, the beloved Mexican pop trio known for their enduring hits; and Olga Tañon, the energetic Puerto Rican pop and merengue star often referred to as “La Mujer de Fuego.”

These artists represent a diverse spectrum of genres and generations within Latin music, highlighting the Academy’s commitment to honoring a wide range of artistic excellence. Their careers have collectively spanned decades, influencing countless musicians and resonating with audiences worldwide.

Trustees Award and New Educator Recognition

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Awards, Eric Schilling will be honored with the Trustees Award. This award is bestowed upon individuals who have, by their actions and contributions, greatly advanced the cause of Latin music. Schilling’s recognition underscores his significant impact behind the scenes within the music industry.

Furthermore, the Latin Recording Academy is proud to introduce a new award for 2025: the Latin Music Educator Award. This inaugural award signifies the Academy’s dedication to acknowledging and supporting the vital role educators play in nurturing the next generation of musical talent and preserving the rich heritage of Latin music. Details regarding the recipient of this significant new award are expected to be announced in the coming months, marking a new chapter in the Academy’s commitment to all facets of the music ecosystem.

Celebration and Upcoming Events

The announcement, which was made on August 7, 2025, sets the stage for a series of celebratory events. The special awards honorees will be recognized at an exclusive, private ceremony scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on November 9, 2025. This intimate gathering will precede the much-anticipated 26th Annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, which is slated for November 13, 2025, also in Las Vegas. These events serve as a capstone to a year of achievements and contributions within the vibrant world of Latin music.

The selection of these honorees reflects the Latin Recording Academy’s ongoing mission to celebrate and uplift the art, culture, and innovation within Latin music. The news brings excitement to fans and artists alike, anticipating the acknowledgment of these luminaries at the upcoming festivities.
