Latin Recording Academy® Celebrates Esteemed Icons with 2025 Special Awards

The Latin Recording Academy® has unveiled its distinguished roster of honorees for the 2025 Special Awards, recognizing a remarkable group of artists and professionals who have profoundly shaped the landscape of Latin music. This year’s esteemed recipients include legendary figures Susana Baca, Enrique Bunbury, Ivan Lins, Pandora, and Olga Tañón, who will each be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Further highlighting exceptional contributions, Eric Schilling is set to receive the Trustees Award. The Academy also announced the inaugural recipient of the Latin Music Educator Award, underscoring a commitment to nurturing future talent and preserving musical heritage.

Honoring a Legacy of Musical Excellence

The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates artists who have made significant contributions to music and the recording arts through their creative work. This year’s laureates represent a diverse spectrum of genres and decades of influence, cementing their status as pivotal figures in Latin music history. Peruvian singer and folklorist Susana Baca is celebrated for her work in preserving and popularizing Afro-Peruvian music. Spanish rock icon Enrique Bunbury, frontman of the influential band Héroes del Silencio, has a career spanning decades marked by poetic lyricism and powerful stage presence. Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins is a master of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) with a career characterized by sophisticated melodies and poignant songwriting. The Mexican pop duo Pandora, comprising Isabel Lascurain, Mayte Lascurain, and Fernanda Meade, has been a dominant force in Latin pop for decades, known for their harmonic vocalizations and memorable hits. Puerto Rican superstar Olga Tañón, the “Hurricane of Puerto Rico,” is renowned for her high-energy performances and enduring reggaeton and merengue hits.

Recognizing Industry Pillars and Future Generations

Complementing the Lifetime Achievement honorees, Eric Schilling will be recognized with the Trustees Award. This award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the recording industry in a non-performing aspect, such as through artistic or technical performance, or through outstanding record production or other musical contributions. The announcement also marks a significant milestone with the presentation of the first-ever Latin Music Educator Award, a new category designed to honor individuals who have impacted the next generation of music creators through education.

A Night of Celebration in Las Vegas

These remarkable individuals will be formally celebrated during a special private event scheduled for Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the vibrant city of Las Vegas. This exclusive gathering will bring together music industry luminaries, fellow artists, and the honorees to pay tribute to their unparalleled achievements and enduring legacies.

Intocable’s Generosity Supports Music Education

In a move that further emphasizes the Academy’s dedication to music education, the popular regional Mexican band Intocable has announced a significant philanthropic initiative. As part of their upcoming Antología Tour 2025, Intocable has pledged to donate $1 from every ticket sold directly to the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®. This foundation plays a crucial role in supporting music education programs and ensuring that the rich heritage of Latin music continues to thrive through the development of aspiring musicians and educators. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to the future of Latin music, connecting artistic success with educational advancement.
