Americas Society is set to illuminate the rich and diverse landscape of Latin music with its upcoming Latin Music Event: “Music of the Americas: Brazil and Colombia.” Scheduled for November 19, 2025, and presented online via the “En Casa” platform, this engaging Latin Music Event will showcase acclaimed singer-songwriters from Brazil and Colombia who masterfully blend contemporary musical styles with ancestral folk traditions. This installment of the renowned “Music of the Americas” series continues its long-standing mission to foster understanding and appreciation for the vast array of musical expressions from across the Western Hemisphere, making it a truly exceptional Latin Music Event. This Americas Society event promises to be a highlight for anyone interested in Latin music Brazil and Latin music Colombia.

A Legacy of Musical Exploration: The Power of a Latin Music Event

For decades, Americas Society has been a pivotal venue for experiencing the vibrant pulse of music from the Americas. Since its inception in 1965, the “Music of the Americas” concert series, often supported by sponsors like the MetLife Foundation, has championed a broad spectrum of genres, from classical and folk to popular and avant-garde. Its aim is to highlight the dynamic and ever-evolving musical stories that define the region, showcasing the breadth of talent that can be found in any significant Latin Music Event. This dedication makes every Americas Society event a noteworthy occasion for lovers of Latin music Brazil and beyond.

Colombian Rhythms and Resilient Voices at This Latin Music Event

The event will feature two compelling artists from Colombia. María Vanedi, a singer-songwriter hailing from Huila, is celebrated for her “Minimalismo Tropical” style, which artfully fuses the deep-rooted musical traditions of the Magdalena River with modern genres like soul, rock, and R&B. Her powerful voice and compositions not only showcase Colombia’s cultural diversity but have also graced soundtracks for major productions, including Disney’s “Encanto” and the Amazon TV series “Betty, la fea: la historia continúa.” Vanedi is slated to perform “Escogí Creer” during this exciting Latin Music Event, offering a glimpse into her unique sound. This presentation is a key part of the overall Latin music Colombia showcase.

Joining her is Mulato Bantú, an Afro-Colombian artist from Santa Marta. His music is a profound exploration of his heritage, drawing inspiration from his ancestors and the African diaspora. His compositions evoke a sense of nostalgia while celebrating his African origins. Bantú is preparing to perform a song inspired by the legendary 16th-century abolitionist leader Benkos Biohó, a figure of immense historical significance in the fight for freedom and self-determination for enslaved Africans in the Americas. He will also offer a rendition of the evocative song “Adonde nadie me ve,” further enriching this Colombian musical offering within the larger Latin Music Event. This showcase of Latin music Colombia is a highlight of the program.

Brazilian Folk Traditions Reimagined at a Premier Latin Music Event

From Brazil, the “Music of the Americas” series welcomes Katya Teixeira, a distinguished singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and dedicated researcher of Brazilian folk music. With a career spanning three decades, Teixeira is renowned for her commitment to preserving and reinterpreting traditional Brazilian folk songs, drawing from her extensive travels and deep respect for folk masters and authentic cultural manifestations. For this Latin Music Event, she will present traditional folk music, including the reisado “Deusa da lua,” a piece originating from Alagoas in Northeast Brazil. She will be accompanied by percussionist and mouth harp player André Venegas, who also plays the viola de cocho, adding another layer to the rich tapestry of this Latin Music Event. Her performance underscores the depth of Latin music Brazil.

A Celebration of Cultural Crossroads at This Online Music Event

These featured artists exemplify the innovative spirit that drives contemporary Latin music, demonstrating how historical roots and modern influences can converge to create powerful and relevant artistic statements. The “Music of the Americas: Brazil and Colombia” Latin Music Event offers a unique opportunity for audiences worldwide to engage with these vibrant traditions and discover the top stories emerging from the intersection of culture and music in Latin America. This is more than just an online music event; it is a celebration of the diversity that defines Latin music Brazil and Latin music Colombia. This Americas Society event promises to be a memorable experience.

Americas Society invites music enthusiasts to tune in for this captivating online presentation, a testament to the enduring power and dynamic evolution of music from Brazil and Colombia, truly a memorable Latin Music Event.
