Jaime Lozano & The Familia Unveil ‘Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3’ Featuring Broadway’s Krystina Alabado and All-Star Latin Talent

Javier GutierrezJavier GutierrezAugust 22, 2025 1223 Minutes read0

Mexican musical theatre visionary Jaime Lozano and his acclaimed collective, The Familia, are set to release their highly anticipated album, Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3, on August 22, 2025, via Concord Theatricals Recordings. This latest installment continues Lozano’s powerful exploration of the immigrant experience in the United States, with a particular highlight on the track “Wherever I Go,” performed by Broadway star Krystina Alabado.

A Deep Dive into the Immigrant Narrative

Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3 delves into the multifaceted journey of first- and second-generation middle-class U.S. immigrants. The album tackles universal themes such as finding a new home, navigating language barriers, confronting discrimination, pursuing the American Dream, and the fundamental desire to build bridges rather than walls. Lozano, a proud Mexican immigrant himself, views this project as a crucial platform for authentic storytelling. He states that his songs and art are his way to “raise [his] voice” and that he hopes “my people can recognize themselves in these songs.”

The series has garnered significant praise, with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda famously dubbing Lozano “the next big thing” on Broadway. Miranda further emphasizes the profound impact of Lozano’s work, noting, “If you’re an immigrant in the United States, you have to work ten times as hard just to reach the ground floor. … Jaime honors that journey and breathes astonishing musical life into it on this album.”

Star-Studded Collaborations and “Wherever I Go”

Central to the album’s appeal is the impressive roster of award-winning Latin artists and Broadway luminaries who lend their voices and talents. Alongside Krystina Alabado (Mean Girls), the release features Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Tony Succar, Grammy-winning music producer Trooko, multi-Grammy winner Paquito D’ Rivera, Latin Grammy winner Jair Alcalá and his band El Plan, and Tony, Grammy, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal). Other notable Broadway talents include Lorna Courtney, Florencia Cuenca, Aline Mayagoitia, Joel Perez, and Didi Romero.

Krystina Alabado’s rendition of “Wherever I Go” is a poignant track poised to resonate deeply with listeners. The song, featuring music by Lozano and evocative lyrics by Georgie Castilla, perfectly encapsulates the emotional core of the album’s narrative, exploring themes of belonging and perseverance. Alabado has previously collaborated with Lozano on Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 2, showcasing her powerful vocal abilities in conveying the nuances of the immigrant experience.

The Creative and Production Team

Behind this ambitious music project is a dedicated team. Jaime Lozano himself serves as a producer alongside Demián Cantú, who also handled the recording, editing, and mixing. Victoria Kühne and Sean Patrick Flahaven co-produced the album, with Jaime Lozano & The Familia acting as executive producers. Oscar Zambrano mastered the tracks, ensuring a high-quality sonic experience for the listeners. The arrangements and orchestrations were skillfully crafted by Lozano and Jesús Altamira, with a diverse group of lyricists contributing to the album’s rich tapestry of stories, including Georgie Castilla, Reynolds Robledo, Nathan Tysen, David Davila, Neena Beber, Marina Pires, Tommy Newman, and Florencia Cuenca.

Celebrating the Release: A Night at Sony Hall

To mark the official release of Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3, Jaime Lozano & The Familia will host a celebratory concert at New York City’s iconic Sony Hall on Monday, August 25. This event promises an unforgettable evening of music, featuring an all-star lineup of Broadway performers who contributed to the album. The artists will be accompanied by an impressive 18-piece band of acclaimed New York City musicians.

The Sony Hall concert represents a significant milestone for Lozano, moving to a larger venue than previous showcases. He acknowledges the challenge but embraces it as a testament to the project’s growth and impact, stating, “Every step we’re doing, every choice is riskier every time. We’re doing it not because we know that we can do it. We’re doing it because we want to do it and because we are scared to do it. But we believe in ourselves as artists.” This concert is more than just an album celebration; it’s a powerful statement about community, diversity, and the enduring power of music to unite and inspire.

Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3 stands as a testament to Jaime Lozano’s unwavering commitment to telling essential stories, offering a vital and resonant collection of music that champions the voices and experiences of immigrants in the modern American landscape. The album is available on all streaming and digital download platforms worldwide starting August 22.
