From Beachfront Festivals to Streetwear Collabs: The Week’s Top Music Moments

Valentina RojasValentina RojasAugust 23, 2025 2163 Minutes read0

The past week in music has been a vibrant tapestry, showcasing the expansive influence of Latin rhythms, the raw energy of hip-hop collaborations, and the intersection of art and fashion. From the sun-drenched shores of Rosarito to innovative digital campaigns, artists and festivals continue to push boundaries, reflecting a dynamic and ever-evolving global music scene.

Baja Beach Fest 2025: A Landmark for Latin Music

Rosarito, Mexico, recently concluded its seventh edition of the Baja Beach Fest, solidifying its status as a premier global event for latin music and culture. Held from August 8-10, 2025, the festival drew a massive international audience, celebrating identity, community, and the genre’s ever-growing worldwide appeal. Headliners J Balvin, Don Omar, and Maluma commanded the stage, delivering electrifying performances that underscored their global superstardom. The lineup also featured a diverse array of talent, including reggaeton artists like Young Miko, Anitta, Arcángel, and Cris MJ, alongside regional Mexican music stars such as Natanael Cano & Amigos and Los Tucanes de Tijuana. This eclectic mix highlighted the festival’s commitment to showcasing the breadth of contemporary latin urban music, from trap and reggaeton to corridos.

Baja Beach Fest has evolved significantly since its 2018 inception, transforming from a niche event to a cultural barometer that reflects and amplifies the mainstream power of latin genres. Its success is a testament to the genre’s cultural ownership among young fans and its undeniable impact on youth culture, demonstrating that latin music is no longer a trend but a firmly established cornerstone of the global entertainment industry.

PlaqueBoyMax and Concrete Boys Unveil “fivestarcrete” Tape

Adding to the week’s notable releases, the collaboration tape “fivestarcrete” from PlaqueBoyMax and Lil Yachty’s Concrete Boys collective officially landed on streaming platforms on August 22, 2025. This four-track project is the first official long-form release from the Concrete Boys since their debut tape in April 2024. The songs featured on “fivestarcrete” were recorded live during an extensive 11-hour stream, capturing the raw creative energy of PlaqueBoyMax alongside Lil Yachty, Dc2trill, Camo!, and Draft Day. Tracks like “GO” and “It’s Us” exemplify the artists’ collaborative chemistry, offering a fresh sound that blends drill-inspired beats with infectious energy. This release marks a significant moment for PlaqueBoyMax, further expanding his presence in the hip-hop collaboration landscape.

Aminé and New Balance Launch Thought-Provoking Campaign

In the realm of artist-brand partnerships, rapper Aminé and sportswear giant New Balance have launched their latest campaign for 2025, playfully critiquing the trend of the “performative man.” The campaign features witty visuals and billboards that comment on contemporary cultural aesthetics. While specific collaborative footwear designs have not yet been officially revealed, Aminé is seen sporting striking bright green sneakers, hinting at future product drops. Beyond the digital and outdoor advertising, the partnership extends to a community initiative: a book drive in Portland, Oregon, supporting literacy and cultural engagement, which runs through September 10. This campaign continues Aminé’s established relationship with New Balance, following previous successful collaborations that have cemented his role as a key ambassador for the brand.

The week has also seen a flurry of other notable music activities. In the hip-hop sphere, artists like Doja Cat have delivered new tracks, with her single “Jealous Type” making waves, alongside numerous album releases from established and emerging artists. These diverse happenings underscore the dynamic nature of the current music industry, where festivals, collaborative projects, and creative marketing campaigns converge to define the sounds and trends of the moment.

The week’s highlights demonstrate a thriving global music ecosystem, from large-scale cultural celebrations like Baja Beach Fest to intimate creative collaborations and impactful brand campaigns. As the year progresses, these artists and events continue to shape the narrative of contemporary music, promising more exciting developments ahead.
