Bad Bunny Dominates 2025 Latin Grammy Nominations, Dethrones Edgar Barrera’s Two-Year Reign

The music industry is buzzing as the nominations for the 26th Annual Latin Grammy Awards were unveiled on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, signaling a significant shift at the top. Puerto Rican global superstar Bad Bunny has secured the most nominations this year, earning a remarkable 12 nods. This achievement marks his ascent to the forefront, dethroning the prolific producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera, who had held the top position for the previous two consecutive years. The highly anticipated awards ceremony is set to take place on November 13, 2025, at the renowned MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Bad Bunny’s extensive list of nominations includes multiple entries in major categories such as Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed work, including “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” His nods span across various genres, highlighting his multifaceted artistry within the latin music landscape. With these 12 nominations, Bad Bunny’s career total now stands at an impressive 52 nods, underscoring his consistent impact on the music scene.

While Bad Bunny leads the pack, the competition remains fierce. Close behind, tied for the second-highest number of nominations with 10 nods each, are Edgar Barrera and the acclaimed Argentinian hip-hop duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso. Barrera, a consistent force at the Latin Grammys, has once again garnered significant recognition for his extensive work with numerous top-tier artists across various genres. CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, who gained widespread popularity following their viral 2024 NPR Tiny Desk concert, are recognized for their innovative sound, with multiple nominations including in Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.

Other notable artists also receiving substantial recognition include Rafa Arcaute, Natalia Lafourcade, and Federico Vindver, each securing eight nominations. Natalia Lafourcade, already a recipient of 18 Latin Grammy trophies, continues her impressive run, holding the record for the most wins by a female artist.

This year’s Latin Grammy Awards also introduce significant updates to the awards process, reflecting the evolving landscape of music consumption and creation. A new field dedicated to visual media has been established, featuring two brand-new categories: Best Music for Visual Media and Best Roots Song. These additions acknowledge the growing importance of music created for film, television, and digital storytelling, as well as the preservation and innovation of traditional sounds within latin music.

The Latin Recording Academy CEO, Manuel Abud, emphasized the expanding global influence of latin music, stating, “The impact of Latin music continues to grow on a global level, and all of the nominated artists encompass its diversity and richness while continuing to preserve the iconic sounds that make our music unique.” This sentiment is echoed in the diverse range of artists and genres represented across the nomination list, showcasing a vibrant tapestry of contemporary latin music.

The 26th Annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony promises to be a night of celebration and recognition for the artists, songwriters, and producers who have shaped the past year in latin music. As the industry awaits the November 13th event in Las Vegas, the 2025 nominations set the stage for a captivating showcase of talent, innovation, and cultural richness.
