Esaú Ortiz Ignites Latin Music Scene with ‘DISCONTROL’ and Groundbreaking ‘Retro-Bélico’ Sound

Esaú Ortiz has officially launched his highly anticipated new album, “DISCONTROL,” via Sony Music Latin, heralding the arrival of a revolutionary new genre he dubs the “retro-bélico” sound. This bold musical fusion masterfully blends the infectious rhythms of vintage disco with the vibrant authenticity of contemporary regional Mexican music, setting a new benchmark for the genre in 2025.

The Birth of Retro-Bélico

The “retro-bélico” sound, as conceptualized by Ortiz, is more than just a musical experiment; it’s a cultural movement. It intricately weaves together influences from diverse genres including dembow, bachata, pop, and electronic music, creating a rich and multidimensional sonic landscape. Ortiz’s vision dismantles traditional genre boundaries, merging the raw narrative power of corridos bélicos with the irresistible energy of dance floor anthems. This innovative approach allows him to explore universal themes of heartbreak, ambition, betrayal, and identity, crafting a narrative that resonates deeply across varied audiences.

“DISCONTROL isn’t about formulas; it’s about emotion,” Ortiz shared. “It’s music you feel in your chest, not something calculated for charts.” This philosophy underscores the album’s core, emphasizing an authentic connection with listeners over commercial predictability.

“DISCONTROL”: A Sonic Journey

Released on October 13, 2025, “DISCONTROL” features 14 tracks that showcase Ortiz’s expansive creative freedom. The album delves into a spectrum of emotions, with songs that celebrate love, confront loss with a touch of irony, and are designed purely to make people move. This artistic intentionality has resonated strongly with fans, who have already elected the album as their favorite Latin music release of the week in a recent Billboard poll, securing 60% of the votes.

Beyond the title track, “DISCONTROL,” the album includes notable songs such as “Olvidándote,” a melancholic ballad that begins with a sad sierreño sentiment but lightens its emotional load through disco rhythms, and “Ramo Buchón,” a romantic focus track that highlights Ortiz’s versatility.

“Triple Lavada”: A Global Phenomenon

A significant highlight of the album, and indeed Ortiz’s career, is the viral sensation “Triple Lavada.” Originally gaining traction on TikTok before its official release, the song has transcended geographical and linguistic barriers. It has surpassed a staggering 320 million streams across Spotify and YouTube, reaching #1 on Spotify Mexico’s Viral chart and climbing to #11 on Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart. The high-octane remix of “Triple Lavada,” featuring collaborations with prominent artists Luis R. Conriquez, Alemán, Oscar Maydon, and Victor Mendivil, further amplifies its impact, with the remix alone garnering over 90 million YouTube views and solidifying its status as a global hit.

Esaú Ortiz: The Visionary Composer

Before making his mark as a solo artist, Esaú Ortiz established himself as one of the most sought-after composers in the new wave of Mexican music. His pen has been instrumental in crafting hits for major artists, including “Voy a Amarte” for Perdidos de Sinaloa, “Fresa y Coco” and “Chula Vente” for Luis R. Conriquez, “De Compas” for Carin León, “VVS” for Peso Pluma, and “Tronando Ligas” for Grupo Firme & Junior H. This songwriting prowess, combined with his own artistic vision, led to him winning a Latin Grammy in 2024 for “VVS” alongside Peso Pluma. Hailing from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Ortiz’s musical journey began early, marked by learning the violin and composing his first song at age 13, laying the foundation for his versatile and innovative career.

The Future of Latin Music

With the release of “DISCONTROL,” Esaú Ortiz is not merely following trends; he is actively creating them. The album stands as a testament to artistic independence, musical innovation, and raw emotional truth. It represents the evolution of regional Mexican music, where daring experimentation becomes a defining characteristic and artistic risk transforms into a lasting legacy. This project confirms Ortiz’s position as a vanguard artist poised to shape the future of Latin music for years to come.
