Bermuda’s Swing Ambassadors: The Simons Brothers Announce Return with ‘Summer of Swing’ Extravaganza

Mina ParkMina ParkAugust 27, 2025 2703 Minutes read0

Hamilton, Bermuda – The distinct rhythm of swing music, blended with a unique global flair, is set to fill the Earl Cameron Theatre once again as Bermudian sibling trio The Simons Brothers prepare for their highly anticipated “Second Annual Summer of Swing Show.” Following a period of extensive musical development and performance in Panama, Jonathan, Solomon, and Leonardo Simons are returning to their island roots for a series of shows designed to transport audiences back to the golden age of jazz and swing.

Known for their “music that sparkles,” The Simons Brothers have carved out a distinctive niche by reviving the sounds of the swing era, infusing it with contemporary energy and a fusion of genres that includes funk, blues, jazz, pop, and rock. Their journey, which began with a love for “old school” music and a desire to explore the world, led them to Panama in 2020. This move marked a significant chapter, allowing them to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and diverse musical landscape of Latin America.

While swing music is described as a niche genre in Latin America, The Simons Brothers have found an enthusiastic audience eager to dance. Their recent performances in Panama, including a notable appearance on the popular Telemetro Channel’s “Tu Mañana,” saw attendees embracing the era by dressing in 1950s and 1960s attire. This engagement underscores the universal appeal of their chosen musical style and their ability to create immersive experiences.

“We are growing our shows slowly,” Jonathan Simons shared, reflecting on their approach. “We want to make things bigger in Panama and continue performing at least once a year in Bermuda. The goal is to make an event that people look forward to.”

Their time in Panama has not only honed their musical skills but also their linguistic abilities, with their Spanish proficiency improving steadily over five years, although their primary audience remains English-speaking. This international experience has undoubtedly broadened their musical palette, allowing them to blend the characteristic rhythms of the Caribbean and the Americas into their sound. The music of Latin America, with its rich heritage of jazz and swing fusion, provides a fertile ground for artistic exploration, influencing their unique approach to performance and composition.

Fans can expect a meticulously crafted “Summer of Swing” show, a two-hour musical extravaganza that pays homage to the classic swing era. The performances will feature beloved swing melodies and big band hits, alongside the brothers’ own original compositions. Their recent releases, such as the track “Swing,” have garnered attention on streaming platforms and YouTube, with new music, including “Skip” and “Road Runner,” slated for release later this year.

This upcoming Bermuda engagement represents a homecoming and a chance to share their evolved sound with their home audience. Having learned from their previous visits, the brothers have scheduled this year’s concerts at the beginning of their trip, ensuring they can balance professional commitments with cherished time spent with family and friends. The shows are designed to be more than just concerts; they are crafted as dynamic, participatory events with potential dance-along and sing-along segments, enhanced by atmospheric lighting and stage design that captures the essence of the swing period.

Using social media platforms like Instagram to connect with fans and promote their events, The Simons Brothers are actively widening their reach. Their dedication to the swing genre, combined with their international perspective and Bermudian heritage, positions them as unique ambassadors of timeless music. As they continue to expand their presence in Latin America and solidify their annual returns to Bermuda, The Simons Brothers are proving that the spirit of swing is alive and well, ready to captivate new audiences with every note.
